The social studies TEKS contain conceptual strands that are developed across grade levels in a grade-appropriate progression. The strands included are history; geography; culture; economics; government; citizenship; culture; science, technology, and society. The mission of social studies through this content is to enable students to develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good, as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.
